Live once again, from your traveling bard/MC/host! I’m dropping this one from a hotel in the higher heights of Whistler, Canada’s snow flecked mountaintops. I was really enjoying being home, but yes indeed, I’m right back out on the road. There are pros and cons to everything in the universe. This is the subtle balance often referred to as the yin and the yang. There is definitely a rare beauty in being able to travel the world performing music and rocking crowds. Yet, it does not come without struggle, hard work, lack of sleep, and countless hours driving into distant towns, cities, and villages. Let me not wax too philosophically though, this tour seems like it’s going to be fun. I really enjoy Canada, especially Vancouver. The layout is reminiscent of San Fran, but the architecture feels more edgily modern, and the ever-present mountain range sets it distinctly apart. I was feeling easy doing this set, and the music reflects that. I drop some reflective hip-hop tunes, alongside some soul music I’m feeling, and towards the end gallop into some progressive house. Wow…this tour has been ill!! After nearly 10 years of touring, this is definitely the most successful one that we’ve been on thus far. What a blessing! We’ve done shows up and down the west coast, 9 thus far, and all have been sold out. It’s such a pleasure to rock with humble souls spreading good energy and intention every night. I suppose this is the type of thing that the world needs in this moment. Enough really can’t be said about emphasizing the “brighter side of life” as stated by Rebelution. I’m with that, totally and completely. Peep the movements and stay up with us as we spread love.
Hail up all massive! Today’s show is focused on reggae music. Since we’re currently on tour with ragga champions Rebelution & Soja, I was in the mood to honor the vibes. I didn’t get a chance to upload their music yet, but that’s coming very soon. The tour has been incredible thus far. Every show has been sold out thus far, 8 in a row. This is definitely the largest tour that we’ve ever been on. Give thanks! With so much chaos in the world, it feels good to be around some calming, introspective musicians and music. Yes yes yall! After a successful run throughout the US, we are finally bringing the funk across waters. We’ll be touching down at one of the world’s premiere Hip Hop festivals when we blast off at Splash (www.splash-festival.de). We’re rocking on Friday, actually not sure what time yet?? We’re also bringing out our band, composed of some of the illest musicians out of the Bay. Kev Choice will be on the keys, Codany Holiday on backing vox, and Jetman holding it all down on the drums. It’s the first time that we’ll have the live set-up in EU, so be sure to peep game!! The summer time out there is super fresh, so we’ll be sure to catch some of the sights and sounds so y’all can feel the heat as well. Bless!!
The last time ZION-I was in Portland, OR the show got shut down mid-way through. It was not a good scene, but August 8th, 2009 ZION-I returns to Portland at The 2410 to make it up to y’all!!

So…we pull into the quiet mountain town of Flagstaff, AZ on the 3rd night of the Droppin Science Tour. We finally run into the club after the promoter finally answers his phone. I can’t blame him though, our GPS wouldn’t work, so I figure it had something to do with the cutty nature of the locale itself. Boom. We get to the club, and I’m hungry so I ask promoter dude where we can get some food. He instructs us to check out this Thai spot. Cool. (more…)
